How We Support You

Nutrition counseling that looks beyond the food.

Our registered dietitian nutritionists provide practical, evidence-based care through a non-diet, weight-inclusive lens. We take time to understand your health, your relationship with food, and the realities of your everyday life.

01

Medical Nutrition Therapy

Evidence-based nutrition support for eating disorders, digestive concerns, diabetes, cardiovascular health, chronic conditions, and more.

We can review lab work, medications, symptoms, and health history with you and explain how those pieces may connect.

03

Education & Resources

Nutrition information can be confusing, especially when it is shaped by diet culture, wellness trends, and fear-based messaging.

We offer clear education, practical tools, and research-informed resources to help you make sense of food, your body, and your health.

04

Care Coordination

Nutrition care rarely exists in isolation. With your permission, we can communicate with the other professionals supporting you.

This may include physicians, therapists, psychiatrists, specialists, school providers, coaches, and other members of your care team.

Care that meets you where you are

You don't need to have everything figured out before getting started.

Our Non-Diet Approach

We believe that wellness is a personal journey and that there is no one-size-fits-all approach. The ability to make sustainable changes comes from a place of compassion for our bodies as well as our choices. Practicing mindful and intuitive eating provides us with a baseline for improving our relationship with food and body while maintaining nourishment. As weight-inclusive dietitian nutritionists, our individualized, evidence-based approach helps clients make meaningful and realistic behavioral changes on their well-being journey. We pride ourselves on providing medical nutrition therapy in an environment that makes our clients feel comfortable and supported through their entire journey.

What to Expect in a Nutrition Counseling Session

Our top priorities are your health, well-being, and happiness. Our nutrition counseling sessions focus on working together to develop strategies for change that are both achievable and comfortable for you. We will examine diagnostic lab values and medications. If desired, we will also work with your care team and report progress to ensure that you’re getting the thoughtfulness you deserve.

There is no standard client, so there is no standard session! All sessions are individualized to your unique needs and intentions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our nutrition counseling sessions typically last 60-75 minutes for initial consultations and 45-60 minutes for follow-up appointments. Each session is tailored to your unique needs.

  • We currently provide in-person nutrition counseling services in our Gorham office and at Working Well in South Portland. We offer virtual nutrition counseling services to clients in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.

  • HAES® is an inclusive social movement that encourages compassionate self-care, body respect, and critical awareness. HAES® rejects size-based critiques of health and instead favors body positivity and healthy lifestyle behaviors for people of all shapes and sizes. Health At Every Size® and HAES® are registered trademarks of the Association for Size Diversity and Health and used with permission.

  • Intuitive eating is a non-diet approach to nutrition and wellness that focuses on mindfulness, listening to the body, and creating a healthy relationship with food. Unlike traditional "diets" and "weight loss plans", the focus of intuitive eating is NOT on the scale or calorie intake. Success is instead measured by increased energy, improved mood, and becoming more in tune with the body.

  • Not typically. CV Wellbeing does not create meal plans unless circumstances require such structure. Rather than rigid plans, we emphasize balance, variety, and satisfaction to foster sustainable eating habits.

Wherever you are in your journey, we’ll meet you there.
